I enjoy combining artistic innovation with practicality and horticultural knowledge in my designs. My love of wild and creatively managed environments is inspiration for my naturalistic planting style and simple, practical use of materials.
After graduating with an MA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2007, I started a gardening company which ran alongside my artistic practice. In 2013 I was awarded a Commendation in the RHS Level 2 Principles of Horticulture from Capel Manor College where I went on to complete a Diploma in Garden Design. Whilst studying I established my garden and landscape design company, Lucy Conochie Design, and upon graduating in 2015 I was awarded the Gardener's Company Prize by The Worshipful Company of Gardeners.
During my time at Capel I co-designed a show garden at the Ideal Home Show 2014 which won a Gold Medal and the People’s Choice Award. I also co-wrote a book called ‘My Tiny Garden’ published in 2016.
I am a Pre-Registered member of the Society of Garden Designers.
